Will Dice
What are they wagering?"
"The only thing we have. Years of service.

— Bootstrap Bill Turner and Will Turner

Liar's Dice is game of chance and deception played originally by members of the crew aboard The Flying Dutchman. However, instead of currency they bet their years of service aboard ship.

The Pirate's Code usually forbids gambling aboard ship - since it causes confrontations, but Davy Jones appears to allow it and even participate. After all, if it means winning more years from some poor soul, why not?

A Liar's Dice mini-game has since been added to The Legend of Pirates Online where players can challenge an AI or each other to this game of guile.

The Rules[]

Liar's Dice Rules

To be reminded of the Game Rules, you can press the ? button at any time while playing.

Gameplay[]

Starting Off[]

To play Liar's Dice, the pirate must take a seat at the table. Press SHIFT to take a seat. If there is a current game in progress, you will have to wait til the next one starts.

Hint: You can actually watch a game progress without having to sit down. The number of dice each player has left will appear on the game table.

  • Before the start of the game, each player will put in their Ante, just like Poker.
  • Each player and the AI dealer then starts with 5 dice (6-sided).

Roll Them Bones[]

Rolling the Bones
  • At the beginning of the round, players roll their "Hand". Like dealing a hand of Poker. The game will prompt you to "Roll The Dice" by moving your mouse. The dice will roll about the table, then your Hand will appear at the bottom of the screen.
  • The First Player / NPC begins the bidding, by picking a Face Value and how many dice they believe are showing among ALL the players total or they're bidding a bluff to fool the others on what face values they're holding.
    • Example: "Four Threes!" (Bidding that four dice total will show a Face Value of Three)
  • The Next Player / NPC clockwise bids up and so on.
    • Each player can either UP the bid or Challenge the last bid by calling out "Liar!"

Bidding[]

If you opt to NOT challenge the previous bid, you must UP the bid on your turn.

Liar's Dice - Menu
  • To Bid, select one of the options available when it's your turn. Raising the bid means either:
    • Increase the Quantity of the Same Face Value ("Two Threes!")
    • Up the Face Value but keep the Same Quantity ("One Skull!")
    • Up the Face Value and Increase the Quantity ("Two Fours!")

Hint: Face values are Two at the lowest and Skull at the highest (Since Skulls are Wild).

  • You CANNOT bid a lower value. You can increase the bid by more than one step by using the + button. If you accidently move the bid too high, press the - button BEFORE pressing Bid.

You're A Liar![]

  • A player or the AI dealer can challenge the previous bid by yelling "Liar!" (Click the Liar! button to accuse).
  • All dice are revealed and counted.
    • If the last bid was valid, the Bidder wins.
    • If not, the Accuser wins.
Accuser Wins Bidder Wins
Liar's Dice - Calling the Bluff
Liar's Dice - Player Loses
  • The loser gives up one of their dice.
  • A new round begins
  • The last player to still retain any dice WINS the ante.

Where to Play[]

Liar's Dice was NOT part of the original Pirates Online game play but The Legend of Pirates Online have now added Liar's Dice tables to some taverns.

Bilgewater - The Festering Fish, Black Dog's Revenge, The Keepers' Headquarters.

Quest[]

Roll Emote

The Legend of Pirates Online also added a Liar's Dice quest (Yer Own Dice) when the island of Bilgewater was added. To start the quest, go to The Festering Fish tavern on the beach. Look for Pushover Penny in the tavern.

You do NOT need to start or finish the quest in order to play Liar's Dice.

Once the quest is complete, your pirate will have a new emote ("Roll"). When you enter /Roll in the chat, the pirate will randomly roll a number on their die and show it to everyone.
