Isla de Muerta (Spanish for "island of death") is a mysterious island featured in the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. It was the island that the cursed crew of the Black Pearl hid their plundered treasure while searching for the scattered pieces of the Aztec Gold, which they stole and became cursed from. Sometime between The Curse of the Black Pearl and Dead Man's Chest, Isla de Muerta was swallowed into the sea, taking the treasure with it.

In Pirates of the Caribbean Online, for participating in Player vs. Player (PvP) combat, Captain Barbossa will give you some cursed Aztec gold which will turn you into an undead skeleton and allow you to attack other players. These coins were likely retrieved from the stone chest of the treasure of Cortés.

Game Notes

• In Pirates of the Caribbean Online there is a very similar island called Devil's Anvil where Captain Barbossa will give the player advice and a pistol during the tutorial. Barbossa is standing upon a pile of gold and valuable items, similar to the movie as well.
