Bowsprit

The Age of Sail was known for its superstitions. Dating back to ancient times, sailors crafted figures or faces into the bows of ships for good luck or to ward off evil spirits. These were mounted to the prow or bowsprit of the ship and some were quite intricate in their design. In the early design stages of POTCO, all pirate ships had a skeleton figurehead, but it was later removed - likely to improve game performance.

When Pirates Online originally developed Ship Customization, there were many elements that were planned to be customizable, but never brought to fruition. The Legend of Pirates Online added Figureheads when Bilgewater was released. These designs are ONLY available from Dorbie Danton after the pirate completes the Story Quest: The Keepers of the Code.

The Skeleton figurehead was the original Pirates Online figurehead, while the Angel figurehead should be recognizable as the bowsprit of the Black Pearl (an angel releasing birds). The Devil figurehead is also notable as its the own seen on The Queen Anne's Revenge.
