The Crystal Caverns are a series of mines and caves underneath the Hollowed Woods on Port Royal. They are filled with massive, but powerful crystals being mined by an army of Jumbee Miners, Thugs, Demolitionists, Thralldrivers and Voodoo Masters.
They are not just there to mine out the gems however, these voodoo-controlled slaves are also digging their way to the Hollowed Woods Town Hall in order to free Captain Windshadow.
History[]
According to April May, when Captain Windshadow arrived the original mine had been depleted and left abandoned as the village had already begun to wither. Windshadow had already began digging into the ground from the new Town Hall, in hopes of finding The Watcher's shrine and source of her power. But, it was taking too long.
He performed dark voodoo rites and summoned the gemstones to grow out of the mine's walls until they filled the caverns. The new found motherlode attracted many workers to return to dig out the newfound wealth. But, they were unaware of mystical energies contained within the stones or the Captain's real goal.
As Windshadow's efforts from the mines and the Hollowed Woods Town Hall closed in on her, The Watcher lashed out! To protect the miners, April May rushed to rescue them and fight off The Watcher. But, she was too late. The Mines were successfully sealed off, but not without trapping so many of the miners inside. April was killed in her attempts to save them.
Location[]
The Caverns are underneath The Hollowed Woods on Port Royal. You must first walk to King's Run, then enter through the cave by the waterfall. Once there, head up the trail to the left, past Myrna and the Gypsy Cart to the entrance.
Areas[]
Entrance[]
To enter the Crystal Caverns, there is a large wooden door. Jumbee Jim can be found here, digging away, and trying to find his way back inside.
Mining Camp[]
The entrance leads down into a large open area, dominated by a flowing underwater stream. The original mining buildings can be found here, along with First Mate Zigana - who acts an overseer.
From here, the caves branch off in three directions. The left tunnel heads toward a cave where numerous Jumbee Voodoo Masters toil.
The main tunnel leads farther into the mines, branching off even farther.
To the right, a short tunnel leads down to a small cove where a collection of Voodoo Miners are working away, supervised by Jumbee Thralldriver brothers Jumbee Kane and Jumbee Abel.
Mood-Rock Cave[]
If you glitch through the closed off tunnel by First Mate Zigana, there is a huge secret cave spiraling downward filled with mood rocks. At the bottom, lies a large opening with an enormous mood rock. Inside the giant mood rock, there is a large model of the legendary Staff of the Hollowed Gem with some sword models circling it. This area has no use and is merely an easter egg for curious pirates to find.
Bosses[]
The bosses here are very strong, a bit aggressive and will HEAL themselves IF the player pirate runs away from them. All three stationary bosses can be found at the Mining Camp area. Also beware of random Jumbee mini-bosses who may appear in place of regular Jumbees.
- First Mate Zigana - Jumbee Voodoo Master
- Jumbee Abel - Jumbee Thralldriver
- Jumbee Kane - Jumbee Thralldriver
Enemies[]
All of the enemies found in the Crystal Caverns are Jumbees of various kinds, many quite dangerous to all but the strongest of pirates. The farther into the Cavern's one ventures, the tougher the enemies become.
These enemies also get quite aggravated and will not stand by if the pirate attacks one of their mates nearby. Starting a fight, you may find yourself swarmed by 3, 4 or even more at a time!
You can flee and they will Disengage after a short chase out of their area. But, be warned that their health will regenerate!

Dig Spots[]
During the Crystals in Hollowed Woods quest, you will need mine some of the hollowed gemstones by finding various dig spots throughout the Caverns. Most are not directly next to any enemies but be careful - you will have to avoid some fairly dangerous ones to reach some.
