NPC Characters

Pirates Online introduces a myriad of characters who populate the Caribbean islands, which the players do quests for and/or interact with.

Most of the characters are NOT in any of the films, novels or comic books. Often, they simply perform a service (Shipwright for selling and repairing ships or a Barber for changing hair styles), but many will be revisited by the player again and again for quest assignments (Captain Job or Josie McReedy the barmaid).

Some, like Scarlet do have a part in the POTC Lore, but are there to guide the player or are part of a quest. Still others were played by actual members of the Disney and TLOPO staff as part of in-game events; groups like the Marceline Guild, the Casa de Muertos, or members of the East India Trading Company.

Film Characters[]

These characters appear in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and make appearances in the game.

Captain Jack Sparrow - Once Jack helps the pirate flee from Rambleshack, he can mostly be found in the Faithful Bride.
Will Turner - Hiding out in a warehouse on Port Royal, Will aids the pirate in getting their first weapons.
Elizabeth Swann - In exchange for their help, Elizabeth aids in teaching the pirate about daggers.
Tia Dalma - The mysterious voodoo priestess resides on Cuba, aiding in the learning of the dark arts.
Joshamee Gibbs - Jack's first mate can be found at the Faithful Bride on Tortuga.
Hector Barbossa - The former mutinous captain and cursed pirates has his own little hideaway on Devil's Anvil.
Jack the monkey - Cursed little beast can always be found near Barbossa.
Scarlet - The lady of the evening who gave Jack a proper slap still plies herself on Tortuga.
Murtogg - Navy Solider who works with his colleague, Mullroy. Jack Sparrow first meets him on Port Royal, when he tries to first commandeer the HMS Interceptor. Murtogg is seen in the cutscene before the Black Pearl Boss Battle, arguing with Mullroy.

Film Characters Not in the Game (Referenced)[]

While these characters are mentioned in the game, they do NOT appear as NPCs to interact with.

Weatherby Swann - The Port Royal governor's portrait can be found in numerous places around the islands.
Davy Jones - Though Jones himself has yet to make an appearance, his crew haunts Isla Tormenta.
Lord Cutler Beckett - The head of East India Trading Company development in the New World has his influence in many things even if he is unseen.
Mercer - Cutler Beckett's right-hand man. His weapon, Mercer's Blades, now renamed as Silver Freeze appears in the game.
Captain Teague - Jack Sparrow's father and keeper of the Pirate's Code. He is part of a quest but the player never meets him directly, nor does he make an appearance.
Blackbeard - Deadly pirate captain and practitioner of dark magic. His ship, The Queen Anne's Revenge appears in the game as a randomized flagship boss battle.
Angelica - Daughter of Blackbeard. First mate of Queen Anne's Revenge (replacing LaSchafe). Had a previous relationship with Jack Sparrow.

Black Pearl Crew[]

In Pirates Online lord, these characters are former members of Captain Jack Sparrow's crew, whom have gone their separate ways, but Jack tasks the pirate to help gather his old shipmates in the Chapter 3 Story Quest - The Black Pearl Crew.

James Pidgeley ("aka John Carver") - Bartender of the Faithful Bride, former Black Guard
Doctor Grogan ("Doc Grog") - Physician
Gordon Greer - Prisoner
Hendry Cutts - Woodsman
Scary Mary Lash - Hermit
Karbay Benedek - Crewman
Gunner - Gunner for the Black Pearl
Giladoga - Treasure Hunter
John Smith - Ship's Bosun
Nill Offrill - Jack Sparrow's good luck charm

Townfolk[]

Each of the major islands have a collection of merchants and other NPC's to interact with as part of the pirate's various quests.

Host GM Characters[]

From time to time, Disney (and later TLOPO) would host in-game events and use NPC characters played by staff members to interact with players and guide the in-game story or direct the activity.
